WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN A HOME INSPECTION:

Thermal Imaging (Infrared)

Our eyes are limited as to what colors and wavelengths we can see. Thermal imaging uses infrared sensors to see wavelengths our eyes can’t see. In particular, thermal imaging allows the user to see temperature differences in materials and structural components. With this technology, the trained inspector can detect issues and problems not visible to the naked eye. Combine this technology with a knowledge of building sciences and the inspection can reveal defects which undetected could cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Commonly found defects:

  • Water leaks and moisture penetration around doors and windows
  • Damp or wet walls and flooring from hidden plumbing leaks
  • Missing or inadequate insulation in ceilings, walls and attics
  • Electrical issues, over heated components caused by improper or faulty wiring
  • Air infiltration causing higher utility bills due to loss of heat or cooling
